| Doppler Ultrasound |
Maternal DopplerDuring this measurement the blood flow from the mother to the uterus (uterine artery Doppler) is checked. The aim of this is to give early warning about the possibility of bleeding in later pregnancy, blood pressure complications, (pre-eclampsia) or the possibility of a slowing of your baby’s growth in later pregnancy. Feto-Placental DopplerIt is possible to check blood flow in the umbilical cord or special blood vessels in your baby’s body as a measure of the welfare of your baby and placenta. These tests can be performed as well as growth checks or more frequently if your doctor wishes. Please note: we do not perform Dopplers as a stand alone service. They are usually performed alongside a check on your baby during a Welfare or Anomaly Scan. If your Midwife or Consultant has requested that you have Dopplers performed you should book the appropriate service for the gestational age of your baby. |
