Professor Andrew Shennan

Professor Shennan is a clinical adviser to The London Ultrasound Centre and provides consultation, examination and cervical scans in respect of blood pressure and pre-term delivery problems.

He is also a Professor of Obstetrics at Guy’s and St Thomas Foundation Hospital Trust where he leads clinical research programmes within the Maternal and Fetal Research Unit.

Professor Shennan researches the causes, prediction and treatment of high blood pressure in pregnancy, pre eclampsia and premature deliveries.

Recognition of his work in this area has lead to him becoming a member of the Blood Pressure Measurement Committee of the British Hypertension Society. He also chairs the Department of Health Committee on Blood Pressure Measurement in Clinical Practice.

Professor Shennan has extensive experience in using ultrasound to measure cervical length and the measurement of fetal Fibronectin to anticipate the likelihood of early delivery.
